VACANCY: Wales U19 Men's National Squad Coaches

Following the success of the Senior Men’s World Championship Team in Denver, the Welsh Lacrosse Association is seeking to build a coaching and management team who will take this momentum forward with the U19 National Squad (Men’s) into the U19 World Championships in 2016, in Coquitlam, Canada.

We therefore invite applications from all who are excited at this challenge, enjoy working in a team environment, and believe they have the commitment and expertise to undertake one of the following roles:

  1. Men’s U19 – Senior Coach.
  2. Men’s U19 – Assistant Coach x 2

We are looking for experienced and qualified lacrosse coaches (ideally with previous international championship experience as either coach and/or player) who will strive to improve the playing skills of the squad, within the context of the overall fundamental playing strategies of Wales Men’s Lacrosse.

Candidates are requested to submit their full CV, together with a summary paper of no more than 200 words, supporting their application, and including specific commentary on what added value you believe you will bring to the coaching and playing organisation.

Applications need to be submitted by 5th December 2014

Once confirmed, it is expected these posts will be for a term lasting until 31st December 2016. Thereafter, the successful candidates will be given the opportunity to reapply. Additionally it is hoped such roles provide a stepping stone towards the Senior Men’s Squad.

Candidates should be clear these positions bear no financial reward but plenty of experience and benefits for career development.

Key Responsibilities, Performance Indicators, Reporting lines and decision making criteria will be defined to all candidates invited before the WLA interview panel, ahead of the interviews, which shall retain the right of absolute discretion over final appointments.

It is expected the Senior Coach will be appointed first and will be closely involved in all subsequent appointments.
