Notice of Annual General Meeting 2016/17

To all members of the Welsh Lacrosse Association (WLA) during 2014/15, 2015/16 and current year 2016/17

Notice of Annual General Meeting

The WLA’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday November 27th at 3pm at Haberdashers’ Monmouth School, 24 Hereford Rd, Monmouth NP25 5XT

As you may be aware, the last AGM was in June 2014 in respect of the year ended 31 March 2014. This AGM will therefore report on the last 2 years, but will present the accounts of the Association for the years ending 31 March 2014, 2015 and 2016.

A key item on the agenda is elections to the Executive Committee in respect of the current year 2016/17. Voting for these positions and other items on the Agenda will be in person only at the AGM. In the meantime, members are invited to think about possible candidates for election.

Officer elections to the Executive Committee for a 3 year term

  1. Chair of the Executive Committee
  2. Chief Executive
  3. Vice President
  4. Treasurer
  5. Secretary
  6. Chair of Women’s Performance - Mel Wiltshire was appointed as Chair of Performance in March 2016 and is standing for election as this Officer at the AGM.
  7. The election of up to 3 ‘Ordinary Members’ (i.e. non-Officer) to the Executive Committee

This is the members’ opportunity to propose and second someone who can help advise the Officers and contribute to the thinking (strategically and operationally) of the WLA. Business skills, interests and experiences are needed to complement those already on the Executive Committee. In particular legal, human resources, IT/website management, sponsorship and marketing are key business areas which would help the Executive and further the interests of the WLA.

In terms of time commitment, there are monthly Executive Committee meetings held by conference call that last approximately an hour and attendance at the Annual General Meetings would be expected during the term of office.

For information on the roles above please refer to the website for job descriptions. Some role descriptions need to be updated and this will be one of the tasks of the new Committee.

The Candidate Profile form needs to be completed by each applicant if they wish to become a Member of the Executive Committee.  It is their opportunity to explain what they will bring to the Executive, their current involvement and association with Welsh Lacrosse and where their interests lie.  Candidates need to be proposed and seconded by current members of the Welsh Lacrosse Association on a Nomination Form and together with the candidate profile these should be returned to:
